Application

Fortinet’s FortiGate-ONE is a security-hardened, purpose-built application and network security solution for the HP Networking switch. It provides integrated, high-performance protection against dynamic security threats while simplifying the IT security infrastructure. HP Networking customers can now deploy a single security blade with integrated firewall, antimalware, IPS, VPN, web filtering, antispam, application control, and data loss prevention.

FortiGate-ONE addresses HP Networking customers’ need for uncompromising protection in an increasingly bandwidth-intensive network environment. It prevents inbound and outbound malicious or unauthorized traffic from leaving the HP Networking switch. FortiGate-ONE delivers increased network and application security, improved policy compliance, and reduced utilization of valuable LAN and WAN resources.

The HP Networking and FortiGate-ONE solution helps organizations of all sizes do more with less. There are three types of products with which FortiGate-ONE competes:

Stand-alone products: These products focus on a specific threat vector (e.g., malware) and may appear to provide an advantage by providing specialized protection.
Switch-based products: These products focus on providing high performance by using switch-based technology to move the packets as quickly as possible. This approach often limits the type of content inspection the device can perform since the manufacturers prefer to focus on only a few technologies like firewall or IPSec VPN and do not offer antivirus/antispyware or antispam protection as it can affect throughput.
Suite of non-integrated products: These products focus on a broad offering of technologies but do not offer a single, integrated management console and are often a result of the vendor’s technology acquisition strategy.
