Student performance objectives
After completing ProCurve Core Competencies v8.41, students will be able to:
- Describe the characteristics of the privilege levels available in the CLI and how to navigate between them
- Perform initial configuration steps on a ProCurve switch
- Upgrade the software on a ProCurve switch
- Configure, view and save multiple configurations on a ProCurve switch
- Enable time services and syslog on a ProCurve switch
- Observe and interpret interface statistics and configure friendly port names
- Configure Port-based and Protocol-based VLANs on a ProCurve switch
- Install and complete the initial configuration of ProCurve Manager Plus
- Enable secure switch management using SNMPv3, SSH, and SSL
- Enable ProCurve switch security features such as DHCP Snooping and ARP Protection
- Use the ProCurve Instrumentation Monitor
- Enable and configure Connection Rate Filtering and a Connection Rate Filter ACL
- Configure ProCurve switches for link aggregation to improve availability and increase bandwidth
- Configure RADIUS Authentication for switch management
- Enable and configure Multi-instance Spanning Tree on ProCurve switches
- Configure Default Gateway redundancy using Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP)
- Configure and monitor OSPF on ProVision ASIC switches

- Describe layer 2 and Layer 3 priorization standards and their appropriate implementations in contemporary enterprise networks
- Describe the LLDP-MED standard and its relevance to QoS for VoIP and other applications
- Given a set of customer requirements, design, deploy, and configure a QoS solution using ProVision ASIC switches
- Design, configure, and monitor a multicast solution using ProCurve ProVision ASIC switches
- Define and implement 802.1X user authentication, Web authentication, and MAC authentication
- Describe and implement ProCurve IDM to provide per-user access control
- Define and implement a unified wired solution including provisions for guest access
